Obadiah Generation
Obadiah was a man who really did “hold the fort,” for he felt that when all the prophets were doomed by Jezebel, his role was to stay near the tigress and save the lives of at least a hundred servants of God from her cruel power.
To be a servant of Jehovah was thought to be a mean, old-fashioned, ignorant, a thing of the past. The worship of Baal was the “modern thought” of the hour. All the court walked after the god of Sidon, and all the courtiers went in the same way. Obadiah said my lord worshipped Baal, and my lady-worshipped Baal, for the Queen worshipped Baal. However, Obadiah professed, “I thy servant fear Jehovah from my youth.” Blessed is the man who cares nothing for the self-fashion, for it passes away.
